'Eavy Metal style painitng challenges / 'Eavy Metal style challenge 1.

Hello!

This is the place where we talk about our new challenge - the 'Eavy Metal style painting challenge #1!

So I thought this might be an interesting idea and extra motivation to get your painting skills on point!

Basically we run a few painting challenges a year, this time it's all around emulating the 'Eavy Metal style as it's really iconic for anyone that knows anything about Warhammer  :D

RULES:

1) You can paint as many models as you want as long as they are a single entry but I would recommend a single miniature. One person can only enter once.
2) You need to post a picture of the unpainted entry with a sign in the background saying "Demon Slayers Forum 'EM Challenge". If you've started painting - you can enter as long as the entry is mostly unpainted.
3) The "before" and "after" pictures of your entries must be posted in this thread.
4) You can post a maximum of 4 pictures of your finished entry.
5) All the entered models must be a product of GW, FW or sculpted. No third party models please.
6) It's highly suggested to have your entry painted in Eavy Metal style as the challenge is all about Eavy Metal but if you want to stick to your own style - thats absolutely fine.
7) The miniature has to have a finished base to be judged.

The results of the judging will be disclosed on April 3rd.

We will have a panel of 3 judges, all of them being ex Eavy Metal painters so they most definately know what the "Eavy Metal" style is!

Here are the judges:

Matthew Kennedy

Martin Peterson

Stuart Thomas

The deadline is March 31st 2019.

To enter you have to:

1) Post a picture of the unpainted model with a sign in the background saying "Demon Slayers Forum 'EM Challenge"

2) Post the final pictures with the completed paintjob.

The Prize is founded by myself and I wanted to keep it GD related so the winner gets a ticket for the Warhammer Fest (and the Golden Demon)!

Kind regards,
Mamikon

Hello guys!

We are looking to have a proper oldschool "after party" after the November Golden Demon.

Basically after the awards ceremony is finished we move to Bugmans Bar and maybe after that to a bar of some sort.

We drink, eat, laugh and look at amazingly painted minis from up close! Your extra bit of fun and memories!

If you are interested - let us know or just join on the day :)

Kind regards!

Oh Mark you are so damn right  ;D

We have to remember that Golden Demon isn't just about how good of a painter you are but also about who turned up.

You can be an amazing painter but if Soper, Bohun and Kanaev turn up in the same category as you have - get a beer and move on!  ;) ;D

Oh I remember my sacred duel in 2016, it was my best paintjob till date and everyone next to the cabinets told me I was going to place. Just 10 minutes before the end of the period when you can enter the contest Matty Kennedy turns up with his amazingly painted Ork vs Blood Angel and there's my demon gone! haha I was happy to lose to that tho as I knew I couldn't paint my duel any better!

So yeah, I would say this: do absolutely everything in your power to feel good about the entry as even if you don't win, you will be sure you did everything you humanly could (not counting hijacking opponents family members and blacklisting  ;D ;D ;D).

Advice / Re: Hunting Golden Demons

Hey Mark I'm really grateful you took the time to create something really special here. This means a lot not only to me but I'm sure that to other painters too.

It's really important to have people like you in the community because you bring so much spirit, passion, legacy to it.

You are the Golden Demon Rolls-Royce I believe!

I will re read your advice many times, thank you!  :)

Advice / Re: Burning out/motivation

Here's an idea to keep you motivated: think about that precious Golden Demon you can win.

Do you wants it, do you needs it?

That's me before every competition:

Oh yeah sure we can gather in Bugmans and look at the minis :)

I'd like people to know about our forum so if you can spread the word on that Golden Demon - I would be more than grateful.

The more people interested in the Golden Demon we get here, the better! Just to make it clear once more - I'm just s fan of GD and I've created this forum for the community.

So yeah, let's all get a beer like this!
