My entry into last year's LOTR category at Warhammer Fest.
Pleased I managed a finalist pin, it was an extremely difficult category this year.
I think the palette didn't help me - while I was trying to keep true to the film and match the colours of the scenery and character, it was too drab. If I was doing it again i'd include some pop of a contrasting colour or saturate the tones a bit more to exaggerate it slightly.
Think I was most happy with the spilled box of salt on the ground, representing Sam's loss of innocence from this point of the journey onwards  ;D ::)
I did managed to win the Lord of the Rings Warhammer Community painting competition with it though, and even got a nod from the actor Sean Astin for it on twitter

Finished projects / Finalist Warhammer Fest Bloodbowl Duel 2018
« on: October 02, 2018, 02:52:59 pm »
A few photos of my finalist pin winning entry into this year's duel category at warhammer fest. Had a lot of fun playing around with the posing on these guys.
Wanted to capitalise on the smug grin on the elf's face and the angry grimace on the dwarf's - think it's safe to say a grudge was added after this "manouvre"
Also wanted to try and convey the sense that it was taking place on a dwarven pitch, hence the marble with gold inlay.
This was rushed a bit before the deadline, so a few finishes are slightly rougher than I would have liked. But having said that it was a fun piece to work on and I learned a lot doing it :)
C&C welcome as always

Finished projects / Bronze GD 2017 - Laketown Militia Captain

After 4 previous attempts and 15 years in the hobby I managed to snag my first Daemon with this guy :)
Had a lot of fun working up the various textures on this guy. The face was a bit of a challenge, still an area I need to practice and improve on.
The base was a bit rough but I was pleased overall, somewhat added to the overall feel of the piece.
