Highly doubt it'll go ahead now, still painting in the hopes it does but I'm getting less hopeful

Hi all, figured I'd come for help here as the quality on here is much higher than myself.

I'm trying to learn glazing, I've followed tutorials on YouTube and pdf files of it, and I just can't seem to work out where I'm.going wrong with it, the end result looks god awful and I'm at a loss as to what I'm doing wrong.

 I've tried thinning my paints with Lahmian medium, Vallejo glaze medium and water. I've followed the guides to how thin the paint should be (paper towel trick, etc).

I'm blocking in my highlights with a base of Kantor Blue, and highlights of Teclis Blue, with a mid tone of the two mixed, the base to midtone glaze seems to work but when I start glazing the highlights transition, it starts to look like crap. Tried less thinned, and thinner paints and still can't get it to work.

Do I just need a ticket to the event to enter the GD or is there a seperate ticket?

My first one so new to all this!
